People can seek or may need counselling for many different reasons. Counselling can be beneficial for anyone navigating the emotional complexities of limb loss, adjustment to a prosthetic limb, or their social circumstances and relationships post-amputation for example.
Much of our peer-counselling work in Gambia and Ghana focuses on persons who are newly amputated, with the trauma of limb loss fresh and a limited knowledge of what will happen next, having someone with similar experiences to talk with can help work through those emotions.
Besides that we also work with people who’ve been amputated for some time and are wanting to work through a challenging situation, or are looking to our teams for peer-support and knowledge on a particular aspect of their life and rehabilitation journey. Whatever the circumstances you may feel you’re in, you are welcome to contact us and we can refer you to relevant services for further discussions.
