Who is liable if a component fails?

When a prosthetic limb is donated to STAND, donors are fully relieved of any liability regarding the prosthetic’s future use. This transition of responsibility is clearly outlined in our processes and documentation. From the moment we accept a donation, STAND assumes responsibility for the initial quality checks and preparation of the prosthetic for its next use. However, once these prosthetics or components are passed on to our partner clinics and technicians, liability is then transferred to these professionals. This is in accordance with the agreements we have in place with our partners, ensuring they assume responsibility for the final fitting and ongoing maintenance of the prosthetics. These measures ensure that all parties are protected and that the prosthetics provided meet the necessary standards of care and safety for the recipients.
