The Empower prosthetic foot was specially designed for active users who navigate varied indoor and outdoor environments and place a high value on the ability to cover longer distances and walk at a higher walking speed. It mimics lost muscle function with powered propulsion at toe-off. The plantar flexion during rollover provides extra comfort when walking and increased stability when going down slopes. Empower reduces joint strain through increased support on the prosthetic side. In combination, the battery-operated motor and the energy-return carbon spring imitate the calf muscles and propel the user forwards. With three different heel wedge options, the O&P professional can customise shock absorption at heel strike to individual needs. Various sensors are integrated in the Empower. These detect the prosthetic foot’s spatial position in real time in order to mimic the natural ankle function. The Taleo Low Profile base spring used in the Empower features smooth rollover, efficient energy return and optimal adaptation to various ground conditions.
