Set your own goal, stay motivated, and feel the heat as you conquer the Sahara for a life-changing cause!

What are the challenge rules?

  • One day to reach your goal: Lace up your sneakers and get ready to take on the heat! The Sahara Desert Dash is all about pushing your limits and making a difference in just one day. Choose your own challenge, whether it’s walking, running, or cycling, and set a goal to complete it by the end of the day.
  • Any limb-powered way of moving: The beauty of this challenge is that you can complete it in any way that requires the use of your limbs. Whether you prefer to walk, run, or cycle, the choice is yours. You could even choose to mix it up and do a combination of all three.
  • Feel the heat and embrace the desert: As you take on this challenge, you’ll be surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Sahara Desert. The soft sand beneath your feet, the warm sun on your skin, and the vast expanse of desert stretching out before you will inspire you to keep moving forward. Make sure to pack plenty of water and sunscreen to stay hydrated and protected from the sun.
  • Set your own goal: Whether you want to complete a certain number of miles or kilometers, reach a specific destination, or simply push yourself to your limits, this challenge is all about setting your own goal and making it happen. As you move through the desert landscape, keep your eye on the prize and stay motivated to achieve your goal. And remember, every step you take is helping to support Legs4Africa and make a real difference in the lives of those living with limb differences.

Here are five ways participants can track their progress with the challenges

  1. Get yourself a funky fitness tracker! Whether you’re taking on the Sahara Desert Dash, the Nile Trailblazer Challenge, or the Kilimanjaro Warrior Weekend, a fitness tracker will help you keep tabs on your steps and distance covered. Just strap it on and get ready to strut your stuff!
  2. Use a smartphone app to get on the right track! Whether you’re running, walking, cycling, or pushing yourself to the limit in any other limb-powered way, there’s an app for that! Strava, MapMyRun, and Runkeeper are just a few of the great apps out there that can help you track your progress towards your challenge goal.
  3. Count your steps with a pedometer! Keep it old school with a trusty pedometer clipped to your clothing or worn on your wrist. This simple device can help you track your daily steps and distance, making it a great tool for any of the Legs4Africa challenges.
  4. Get yourself a GPS watch and go the distance! For those taking on the Nile Trailblazer Challenge or the Kilimanjaro Warrior Weekend, a GPS watch can be a real game-changer. With GPS technology, you can track your location and measure your distance covered, helping you stay on course and reach your goals.
  5. Use online tracking tools to stay on track! Whether you’re taking on a challenge on JustGiving or another fundraising platform, there are online tracking tools available to help you keep tabs on your progress and share it with others. These tools are a great way to stay motivated and connected with other participants as you journey towards your challenge goal.

Join Me in the Sahara Desert Dash for Legs4Africa!

Hello friends and family!

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be taking part in the Sahara Desert Dash to raise funds for Legs4Africa, a fantastic organization that’s dedicated to improving the lives of those living with limb differences.

The Challenge: The Sahara Desert Dash is an incredible one-day challenge where participants push their limits in walking, running, or cycling. I’ve chosen to [insert your chosen challenge: walk/run/cycle] a distance of [insert your goal distance] in the breathtaking Sahara Desert. The heat, the sand, and the vast expanse of the desert will all be part of the unforgettable experience.

How Your Support Helps: Every contribution you make to my fundraising efforts will go directly to Legs4Africa. This amazing organization provides prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation, and support to people who’ve lost their limbs due to illness, accidents, or conflict. Your generous support will help transform lives by giving people the opportunity to walk, work, and live more independently.

How to Support: If you’d like to help me reach my fundraising goal, please click the “Donate” button on my fundraising page. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference in the lives of those living with limb differences. Your support will not only help me achieve my challenge but also empower those who need it most.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. Together, we can make a lasting impact and support Legs4Africa in changing lives for the better!

With gratitude, [Your Name]

P.S. I’ll be sharing updates on my training progress and the challenge itself, so make sure to follow my journey and cheer me on as I take on the Sahara Desert Dash!

I’m dedicated to collecting, refurbishing, and sending these vital pieces of technology to our partners in Africa, where they make a world of difference. When I’m not immersed in this mission at STAND, I’m often found outdoors, embracing nature. I love long walks in any season, camping under the stars, and enjoying the serenity of the great outdoors. My evenings often involve a unique hobby – maintaining and repairing old pinball machines. This blend of precision and nostalgia keeps me engaged and always learning. This fusion of dedication to my work and my love for nature and tinkering drives me every day, both at STAND and beyond.
