We made it! Leg Recycling goes GLOBAL…

May 25, 2021

We’ve had an exciting first quarter recycling legs. The mentoring relationship with Nav Solidaire in France is worth its weight in gold as they already have 27 centres on board, and a good number of these have already shipped components to their unit in Brittany.

We’ve also seen the launch of the new landing page on our site tailored for Limb Centres who would like to join the programme.

Over 2,000 centres across our target recycling countries have been sent some documents which explain what we do, our free collection service and include three posters for them to put up in their centre to remind staff and inform patients that they are on board. We’ve already received some positive responses, whilst some explaining that they are already recycling with another project, which is still good to hear. We’re about to launch a Linkedin campaign to reach out to staff in these centres to build further awareness and rapport.

So far, we have recorded 336 legs received in 2021, and we expect this to start increasing generously as clinics begin operating and their usual capacities and the above mention campaign matures.

About the author

Name: Tom Williams

My passion? Ensuring no prosthetic leg goes unused. I’m dedicated to collecting, refurbishing, and sending these vital pieces of technology to our partners in Africa, where they make a world of difference. When I’m not immersed in this mission at STAND, I’m often found outdoors, embracing nature. I love long walks in any season, camping under the stars, and enjoying the serenity of the great outdoors. My evenings often involve a unique hobby – maintaining and repairing old pinball machines. This blend of precision and nostalgia keeps me engaged and always learning. This fusion of dedication to my work and my love for nature and tinkering drives me every day, both at STAND and beyond.
