The best way to support your Legs

April 29, 2021

Last month we launched our latest regular giving campaign, this time encouraging you to take a Friday night off your dine in for 2 deal and instead get a leg to Africa…

Thanks to Ella-strated‘s wonderful graphics, and the generosity of you lot, this campaign attracted 13 brand new monthly donors, and encouraged 2 current ‘mobilisers’ to increase their donations – totalling £148 a month or £1,776 a year.

That means an extra 148 prosthetic legs can head to their forever homes in sub-Saharan Africa every year (sorry M&S).

Making a monthly donation is by far the best way to support Legs4Africa, as with dependable monthly income we can confidently adapt and respond quickly in crisis situations (this became very important last March when you know who arrived on the scene). It also gives us the freedom to be innovative and creative in our approach.

Even though we are no longer churning out images of steaks and sparkly £10 notes, you can still sign up to give a monthly donation by clicking here

Ginormous thanks to our resident artist and genius illustrator Ella Kasperowicz for yet again turning our words into magic and our ideas into glitter.

Ella has been working with us for over 3 years now, and her art has helped to get hundreds of people back on their feet in Africa. Her first collaboration with Evie came in the form of Egg and Cress sandwiches and most recently she’s been drawing maps of Bristol.

We are forever grateful for her enthusiasm, her openness and the way she embraces absurdity. Check her out on Instagram and make sure you follow her – she is making some serious waves…

About the author

Name: Tom Williams

My passion? Ensuring no prosthetic leg goes unused. I’m dedicated to collecting, refurbishing, and sending these vital pieces of technology to our partners in Africa, where they make a world of difference. When I’m not immersed in this mission at STAND, I’m often found outdoors, embracing nature. I love long walks in any season, camping under the stars, and enjoying the serenity of the great outdoors. My evenings often involve a unique hobby – maintaining and repairing old pinball machines. This blend of precision and nostalgia keeps me engaged and always learning. This fusion of dedication to my work and my love for nature and tinkering drives me every day, both at STAND and beyond.
