Vesbin around Truro for Legs4Africa

November 20, 2015

Truro Foyer is a fantastic scheme that helps 16-25 year olds find their feet, by providing housing, education and has a great sense of community. The staff and young people of Lander Court designed and built ‘The Vesbin’, a bespoke mod styled wheelie-bin trike, complete with comfy seat, mirrors, lights, steering and classic black/white chequers.

Turning  a wheelie-bin into a mod styled racer fits well with the ethos of Legs4Africa, using unwanted items for great reasons, and highlighting the wasteful nature of western culture.

The team raced around Truro on the 11th November, and collected over £125 for Legs4Africa from the friendly businesses and people in the city.

“We are all very proud of our fund raising. We raised a lot of money for a good cause, everyone loved taking part and it made the whole of the Foyer come together. We all raised awareness for the charity and hope we did Legs 4 Africa proud”

Said Paige, Foyer Resident

“The reason I personally wanted to support Legs 4 Africa is because I met your team at an event over the summer and was really impressed with what has happened so far and what you would still like to achieve. I thought about how I could help to raise funds and came up with the “Vesbin” idea. The reason we have chosen our work colleague, Wayne Cross, to be in the bin is because he had a spinal infection at the beginning of this year and very nearly ended up spending the rest of his life in a wheel chair. He is now on the road to full recovery but still finds it uncomfortable to walk at times.”
